- Establishment of the National Innovation Alliance for "Bamboo Substituting for Plastic"
On November 1, 2024, the founding conference of the National Innovation Alliance for "Bamboo Substituting for Plastic" was held in Shuangpai, Hunan Province. The alliance aims to integrate superior scientific and technological resources, carry out collaborative research, break through the key technical bottlenecks of "bamboo substituting for plastic", and accelerate the research and development of new technologies and products. At the same time, it ensures the close connection between scientific research and production, promotes the establishment of an enterprise-oriented and market-driven scientific and technological innovation system, and accelerates the transformation and application of innovative achievements.

The expert group consisted of academicians and experts such as Yin Weilun, Li Jian, Zhang Shugong, Zhang Jiabao, Wu Yiqiang, Liu Shirong, and Zhu Jiaojun. The project team analyzed the current situation, trends, core problems, and countermeasure suggestions of the development of the "bamboo substituting for plastic" industry in China from the aspects of resource cultivation, technological innovation, equipment upgrading, and industrial chain optimization, aiming at the major problems faced in the early stage of the development of the "bamboo substituting for plastic" industry.

On September 28, 2024, the 2024 Promotion Conference on the High-Quality Development of the "Bamboo Substituting for Plastic" Industry was held in Taojiang, Hunan Province. The conference was sponsored by the China Circular Economy Association and co-organized by 9 institutions including Central South University of Forestry and Technology and the Bamboo Branch of the Chinese Society of Forestry. More than 350 people participated in the conference, including leaders from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and relevant departments of Hunan Province, more than 40 experts and scholars in the "bamboo substituting for plastic" field, representatives of local governments of 20 "hometowns of bamboo" and "characteristic bamboo towns" in China, and representatives of nearly 120 enterprises on the supply and application sides of "bamboo substituting for plastic".
